About the Tacoma Events Commission

The Tacoma Events Commission is a volunteer organization dedicated to making memories in the South Sound through family-oriented entertainment events. Best known for producing Tacoma's Freedom Fair, TEC also produces the Gray Sky Blues Music Festival in April, Wings and Wheels in July, University Place Festival in August and Orting Pumpkin Fest in October. In 2005, the Tacoma Events Commission created and produced the first-ever Tall Ships Tacoma festival and was proud that their efforts contributed to "Port of the Year" accolades from the American Sail Training Association. Commission members and members of the board of directors represent a diverse cross-section of our community, and continue to volunteer their time to keep on making memories for friends, family, neighbors and visitors.

TEC Board of Directors

Lori Linenko - Chair and President TEC

Lori Linenko Lori has worked for the State of Washington and private agencies as a public servant for over 30 years. She holds a Master’s Degree in Public Safety Administration with an undergrad in Business. Her expertise is in project and people management. Lori has worked with TEC for several years in various capacities. Her goals in her current role as Board Chair are to; 1) enhance the quality of TEC, events, 2) build and cultivate relationships with partners, sponsors and stakeholders, 3) streamline operations, and 4) improve business processes.


Gary W. Grape - Director of Events

Gary W. Grape Gary retired from Pierce County Public Works in 2000 as Road Maintenance Supervisor after 30 year's of public service. Since then he has served on the TEC Board of Directors as Entertainment Director, Vendor Director, Vice Chairman and Chairman. The past four years he has served as the Director of Events. With Gary’s vast knowledge of event management, he has been an integral part of the Tacoma Events Commission and has contributed to the success of each event for over 15 years. Tony La Stella - Board Treasurer

Tony La Stella Tony La Stella is the Founder and Managing Director of La Stella Foundation, a 501(c)(3) and Washington State Charity since 1990. Tony has an extensive background in Tax Law, Estate Planning, Business Management, Development and Venture Capitalization, Marketing, and Production. His company C&A provides business consulting for Non-Profits and small businesses. As a full time Italian-American Singer, Tony does 200 shows a year and raises over $250,000 annually for charity. He is a Co Host & a Major Shareholder of West Coast Italian Radio, Inc. An active member of The Rainier Club, Tony also serves on the Advisory Board Member of Music Aid Northwest. Since 2011 Tony has produced the Veteran Park “Camp Patriot” within the Tacoma Freedom Fair for the benefit of Veterans and Active Duty Military.


Chris Pfaff - Board Vice Chairman

Chris Pfaff Chris is a new board member with the TEC since 2013, and has volunteered with the TEC for two years prior to his appointment. He has been a firefighter with West Pierce Fire & Rescue for 10 years, is a fire instructor at Bates Technical College, has an Associate’s Degree in Fire Services Administration from Pierce College, and is currently working on a bachelor's degree from Eastern Oregon University. Chris also served in the Marine Corps for four years in Iraq. Chris volunteers for a local car club, Mopars Unlimited, Tacoma. This car club has hosts an all Mopar (Dodge, Plymouth, Chrysler, Jeep) car show in Graham for over 31 years and is one of the largest in the northwest. Chris strives to keep the TEC strong through lending his knowledge and skills of non-profit operations.


Jensene N. Linenko - Assistant Director of Events

Jensene Linenko Jensene has spent several years taking part in the many annual events that the TEC puts on. She brings a wealth of non-profit management experience and serves on a various non-profit boards. As a younger board member, Jensene brings new ideas and a fresh outlook to the Board and the events that TEC coordinates. Her energy and love for Tacoma is most welcome and appreciated. Just another Pierce County Girl supporting her love for T-Town and the surrounding communities.


Tamara Reece - Board of Directors

Tamara Reece Tamara is a new board member as of 2014, however she is not new to the TEC. She has been an active volunteer for the past two years at many of our sponsored events; e.g. Wings and Wheels, Freedom Fair, and the Orting Pumpkin Festival. Tamara is an insurance professional with Leavitt Group Northwest. She has over 20 years of experience as a Client Advisor for personal home and auto insurance, with her primary focus in protecting high net worth specialty needs. She resides and works in Tacoma and is proud to support her local community. Tamara brings a wealth of business knowledge and a passion for service to the TEC. Contact info -


Michael Freeman - Board of Directors

Michael Freeman Michael is an active business owner in the local community. His background is in manufacturing of Marine electronics since 1970 and developing software since 1978. In 1996 he optimized his physical challenge in life into a business of selling and renting wheel chair ramps in the northwest, and renting mobile covered stages for local events . Michael has volunteered for events with the Commission since 2012 and brings his skills of problem solving and management to the board. Michael joined the board in February 2014.


Teri Reid - Financial Manager - Staff

Teri Reid Teri is a lifelong resident of Tacoma and University Place and has enjoyed the events produced by the Tacoma Events Commission for years. She joined the organization in January 2014 with the goal to streamline and enhance the financial management of the organization. She brings with her 25 years of nonprofit financial management expertise that will be invaluable. Teri looks forward to working with all members of the Tacoma Events Commission to continue the wonderful community events that are enjoyed by her family and so many others.


Charles Waters - Logistics Chair

Charles Waters Charles has been volunteering with the events commission for 3 years now. Charles started the computer industry in 1988, and currently works for a local Aerospace company doing computer network & telecommunications support for their local and international markets. He also volunteers with the Mount Rainier Railroad through his interest in the railroad, and has volunteered with Junior Achievement of Washington in King County. A Southern California native, he not only enjoys his career, and volunteering with the TEC, but also enjoys the thrill associated with pursuing his Private Pilot’s license. Contact info –
